Power to the People

January 30, 2009

What else can be said about Blago? No matter that his speech yesterday was a passionate defense that had me thinking, for just a moment, that maybe he had a point (he does have a point, it’s just that the entirety of his case overwhelms it). Unfortunately for him, he is not a man that inspires much in the way of sympathy. And so there he goes.

It does make me wonder how Bush’s abuse of power of the past eight years went without investigation or much of a whisper from his own party. In that sense it is a relief to see Democrats allowing and following through with this impeachment, citing ethics over party loyalty. It’s everything that was missing from the Republican party over the past eight years. Right-wingers don’t play it like that, so we’re all better off as they flail about out of power.

ITMFA!

January 09, 2009

Impeach the mf’er already! Really, this is already dragging on too long. Just get it done and get The Blago out. That’s what I’m talking about. What else can be said?

The Double E!

December 10, 2008

I mentioned earlier that I voted for Edwin Eisendrath in the 2006 primaries. I wasn’t a huge supporter pounding the pavement for him or anything, but I was aware of the incumbent’s shortcomings, shall we say (although not to the extent that I know now) and so I didn’t feel he deserved my vote. Unfortunately, Judy Baar Topinka was not a viable alternative in the election; she was, of course, a Republican as well. And a wackjob. Anyway, Eisendrath writes on Huffington Post about all of it:

Cynics say the people of Illinois are not ready to clean up the state. Not true. Almost a quarter-of-a-million Democratic voters stood with me two years ago, and that was against an incumbent Democrat in a time when attention was focused on Republican mistakes in Washington. Since then we’ve elected Barack Obama President, giving courage to many that change is possible.

You know it, Double E. One more thing I find hilarious about this: the phone call in which Blagojevich’s wife can be heard in the background telling him to tell Deputy Governor A “to hold up that fucking Cubs shit. . . fuck them.” And I thought Rod was a Cubs fan! And his wife is trying to hold up the sale of the team? What a monster! This is the real travesty. Get rid of her!

Hey Mr. Sunshine

December 09, 2008

One last thing on this and then I’m done: I took a look to see how The Nuts were reacting to the indictment of a Democratic governor and I see this from my old friend Victor Davis Hanson:

With the indictment of the Democratic Governor and his purported interest in Mr. Rezko, I think Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald is just about on the verge of losing his near mythic status among the Washington-New York media.

What Mr. Hanson is trying to say is that Fitzgerald was a hero to the Liberal Media when he was going after Scooter Libby, but now, going after a Democrat…what? Is Fitz suddenly a hack?

This just furthers the dumb-assed-ness of Hanson. See, instead of jumping to defend Blago and insist that this is a case of media bias or some other such blather, I think you’ll find that on the Left side of things (in “reality”) we encourage corruption’s demise. We want Fitzgerald to do his job, just as we did with Libby and the Valerie Plame leak (I’ll stop with the royal “we” and leave it at me and I).

Hanson equates the media with the Left, so I’m pretty sure he thinks that there will be soft coverage of our poor governor and he will be given the benefit of the doubt. But here in Illinois, Blagojevich has been rewarded with staggering unpopularity and may yet get a jail sentence. We send Democrats and Republicans to jail here!

I know that this is hard to comprehend, after years of defending the Bush criminals and warlords, but Hanson is obviously just projecting his own manic defense mechanism onto the fabricated liberal media. There’s no denial of this side of the fence. Blago is a dumbass. Just like Hanson!

Cinema Cartoons

December 09, 2008

Oh, Blago. This is not going to help his cause:

He also appears to think little of the president-elect, whom he calls a “motherf***er” at one point.

“F**k him,” Blagjoveich says of Obama during a lengthy call with top aides and his wife recorded on November 10th, “For nothing? F**k him.”

Politics in Illinois is so cinematic, isn’t it? Hilarious. You have to laugh! I guess…

The Hair Gets Shaved

December 09, 2008

So the Blago has been indicted. Does he not know that his every move (and apparently every word) has been closely monitored for the past, oh, I don’t know how long…probably since he got in there? Because everyone else seemed to know. He has to be the worst Illinois governor since…well, the last one. Can we raise the standards a bit? These guys are a bunch of crooks! (Full disclosure: I voted for Edwin Eisendrath in the primaries.)
